Gather all of the ingredients for this vanilla buttercream frosting. You can use vegan butter if needed.

Add butter to a large mixing bowl. Using a mixer, beat on high for 3-4 minutes. Until the butter is fluffy and light in texture.

Add powdered sugar to the bowl, alongside with vanilla extract, and salt. Beat on slow speed for 2-3 minutes.

Start adding the milk gradually, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.

For best results, make carrot cake cupcakes or carrot cake and let it cool completely before frosting.
