How To Cook Tempeh (2 ways!)

-tempeh -soy sauce -spices of choice -olive oil -maple syrup -rice vinegar -sesame oil

ingredients You'll need

Cut tempeh into 2-inch cubes or another shape of your choice. Do your best to make them similar in size so they cook evenly.

step 1

In a flat bowl, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, spices, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.

step 2

Add the tempeh and gently stir to coat all sides. Let it marinate for 30 minutes or overnight in the fridge.

step 3

Either pre-heat your oven or an air fryer to 350ºF (180ºC). If you're using an air fryer, add 1/3 cup of water at the bottom of the basket to help steam the tempeh.

step 4

Swipe up!

Add the tempeh in a single layer and bake for 25 minutes, or air fry for 14 minutes. Flip halfway through.

step 5

Once ready, remove it from the oven or air fryer. If there is any marinade left in the bowl, brush it over the tempeh.

step 6

Serve it right away. This marinated tempeh is best when it's fresh. After it cools it's no longer crispy.
