Step 1:
Gather all of the ingredients for this air fryer tempeh recipe. You can also use lentil or chickpea tempeh.

Step 3:
Cut tempeh into 2-inch cubes or another shape of choice. Do your best to make them similar in size so they cook evenly.

To a flat bowl, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, smoked paprika, sesame oil, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

Step 4:
Add the tempeh and gently stir to coat all sides. Let it marinate for 30 minutes or overnight in the fridge.

Step 5:
Pre-heat air fryer to 350ºF (180ºC). Add ½ cup water to the bottom spay the air fryer with cooking spray.

Step 6:
Add the tempeh in a single layer and bake for 7 minutes. Then, carefully flip. Cook for 7 more minutes.

Step 7:
Once ready, remove it from the air fryer. If there is any marinade left in the bowl, brush it over the tempeh.
