Equipment

  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium apples (best to use a mix of sweet and sour apples like Golden Delicious and Granny Smith)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • A healthy pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C). Set out an 8x10-inch (21x25 cm) baking dish or one similar in size.
  • Core and peel apples. Slice them lengthwise into medium pieces, not too thick. Make sure to be consistent so they coon evenly.
  • Add the sliced apples to a baking dish and top with sugar, cinnamon, coconut oil, corn starch, lemon juice, salt, vanilla extract (optional), and nutmeg (optional).
  • Use your hand or a wooden spoon to mix until everything is well coated. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden and the apples are fork-tender.
  • Enjoy as-is or serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
